"There are supposedly 100s of recorded versions of "Harlem Nocturne", which was written in 1939, but this is the one I am most attached to. Earl Bostic was a journey-man alto sax player from Tulsa who went on something of a recording bender with King Records of Cincinnati. He recorded over 400 tunes for King and they released 9 LPs in 1959 alone ! If you're going to jump in, best start with a Best of."
