A fresh alternative to the usual choices for Contemporary & Outsider Art...
Shawn Vinson is an Atlanta-based art advisor, artist agent, curator and gallerist showing local and internationally recognized, contemporary and outsider artists. We offer paintings, prints, photography and works on paper, and we provide personalized, professional art services for private, corporate and healthcare clients in the Southeast US and beyond.
Over the past thirty years, we've cofounded three galleries and curated various Pop Up shows, beginning with "Art, Arte, Kunst" on Luckie Street during the 1996 Summer Olympics. In 1998, we opened Vinson Gallery, Decatur's first contemporary art gallery, on the Old Courthouse Square. After an eventful decade, we downsized and readjusted our business model during the 2008 recession. We shifted focus to providing evidence-based art for healthcare environments and cleared art for Georgia film and television productions.
In 2017, we opened Different Trains Gallery in Decatur's Old Depot District, where we produced an eclectic range of exhibitions before the pandemic caused us to pause in March 2020. We will return on May 5th and 6th, 2023 with a Pop Up show during the Decatur Arts Festival. Different Trains will continue to be open by appointment and for quarterly events.
In 2020, Shawn Vinson was recruited as gallery director of the Waddi in Inman Park. As soon as the pandemic restrictions were eased, we kicked things off with a series of shows that were well attended and reviewed. Sadly, we were forced to discontinue proceedings at that location in late 2022. We're now in the process of exploring a move to Atlanta's burgeoning Westside. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, a new, more robust website is under construction and we are operating by appointment at Different Trains Gallery and on location. Please call or email to inquire about any of the artworks on our site or schedule a visit with Shawn.
