KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we're in Sigma Sound Studios, 212 North 12th St., Philadelphia in 1972 for William De Vaugha's "Be Thankful For What You Got", released on Roxbury Records... "Sigma Sound was the home of the 'Philly Sound' and the location for much of Bowie's "Young Americans" LP. Surely one of the the greatest U.S. recording studios of all time. "Be Thankful" features some of the MFSB band (much used by Gamble & Huff), on what was an in-studio re-arrangement of a song originally titled "A Cadillac Don't Come Easy". I really know nothing of William De Vaughn, but I do know that all involved must have been listening to plenty of Curtis Mayfield." - KV
