KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we are in the California of 1976 for the Boston-based, Jonathan Richman led Modern Lovers' "Pablo Picasso", produced by John Cale and from their self-titled LP on Beserkley Records... "In 1976, I actually sent away to California for this record and sho'nuff, Beserkley's Matthew "King" Kaufman (or one of his posse) sent me a copy. One I got it, I don't think it came off the turntable for 2 weeks - I was completely besotted with the 'Modern sound' of 1976 America. I learned later that most of the tracks had been recorded in 1972 and some in 1971 ! Perhaps it's just as well I didn't know that when I sent my money off." - KV
