KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we are at Club Chez in Hollywood 1967 for the Buddy Rich Big Band's version of Sonny Bono's "The Beat Goes On", featuring Buddy's daughter Cathy on vocals and first released on the "Big Swing Face" LP on Pacific Jazz.... "Buddy Rich is considered one of the greatest drummers of all time and was a massive influence on thousands that came after him. He was also well known for getting upset! It turns out that the vocal on this was overdubbed at United Recording Studios, Hollywood. I have no idea if daughter Cathy actually sang this at Club Chez and they re-cut the vocal, or if she wasn't 'live' on stage. Either way, it appears that Buddy's only child Cathy would have been 13 at the time - could this be true?" - KV
