KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we're off to the Highlands of Scotland, via a recording studio - probably in London, for Marianne Faithfull's version of "Wild Mountain Thyme", from her 1965 LP "Go Away From My World"... "In the '80s and '90s, used records were both plentiful and cheap here in NYC and one Sunday at the 77th Street Flea Market, I picked up a mono copy of this LP for $1. Who could refuse? It was the first 1960s Marianne Faithfull record I had ever owned and "Wild Mountain Thyme" (a traditional folk ballad of disputed origin) soon became my favourite track. Produced by Mike Leander, who would later find success when he created Gary Glitter's sound." - KV
