KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we are in CTS Studios, Kensington Gardens Sq., Bayswater, London for John Barry and Nancy Sinatra's "You Only Live Twice", the title theme for the 5th James Bond Film, premiered 12th June 1967... "John Barry had already recorded a version of this featuring Julie Rogers on vocals, when Bond film mogul Cubby Broccoli approached Frank Sinatra to sing it. Frank declined but convinced Broccoli that his daughter Nancy should do it. A new arrangement was recorded to accommodate Nancy's limited vocal range and Barry has said the final recording contains excerpts from 25 takes. Nancy has said that "I would rather have root canal surgery than go through that again", she also loved the final results. Not to be confused with Nancy's Billy Strange produced version, without that very expensive intro !" - KV
