KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we are back in 1967 at Rudy Van Gelder's Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey studio for Herbie Mann's version of "The House of The Rising Sun", from his "Glory of Love" LP on CTI Records... "Herbie Mann was a Brooklyn-born flute player, who's records I discovered in the dollar bins of many a flea market. He recorded with some of the top session musicians of his time and this one is produced by Creed Taylor, a journeyman jazz A&R man/producer. Both had much to do with the early 1960s bossa nova boom. I can't recommend any of Herbie's LPs from start to finish, but he did, on occasion, cut some fine tracks." - KV
