KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we are at Stax Recording Studio, 926 E. McLemore Ave, Memphis in 1968 for Booker T & The MG's "Time is Tight", first released in Feb. 1969 as a single on Stax Records... "Booker T & The MG's recorded two versions of "Time Is Tight" for the soundtrack of the 1968 Jules Dassin flick "Uptight" (a black remake of John Ford's 1935 "The Informer"). It is the slower Stax 45 version that became the hit, and I think rightly so. Surely one of the greatest bands ever, led by the deceptively talented Booker T (he studied classical music composition) and featuring my favourite drummer of all time, the late Al Jackson, perhaps now better known for his contributions to most of Al Green's hits." "How could anyone not like this record ?" - KV
