KOSMOs VINYL of the Week:
"The Drummers of Burundi" Womad/Realworld CD... "I'm cheating a bit this week as this is a CD release via Womad on Real World, "The Drummers Of Burundi". There are some French Burundi LPs but I'm not sure if any are in print, but I am sure that anything by them will be fantastic. In the early 1980s I was able to divert these drummers to Brixton to open for The Clash - they were incredible! The Brixton Academy held nearly 5,000 people and they didn't use any amplification or PA at all". Play this as loud as you can get away with." - KV

KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
Willie Nelson - "Touch Me" from his "Then I Wrote" LP on Liberty... "Most of my country records have been bought from the bargain bins, the crates, or off the street. This one was Willie's first solo hit, recorded in 1961 and released in '62. When I first got hip to Patsy Cline, I had no idea Willie had written "Crazy" and since then he's become my favourite hippie." - KV
KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
"Sam Stone" as recorded by Swamp Dogg on his 1972 "Cuffed, Collared and Tagged' LP... ""Sam Stone" is one of John Prine's best songs and the only criticism I have of his original version is that Swamp Dogg's 1972 version is better. Swamp Dogg is a true American soul maverick and I would recommend anyone interested in that style to check out his early output. I saw him a few years back in an almost empty restaurant/club in NYC. He was in fine voice, sharp as a razor and funny as hell". - KV
KOSMO's VINYL of the Week: "Kinnel Tommy" by Ed Banger... "The football season is back and picking up steam. There weren't many punk football (as in soccer) records made, but this one is a Northern Punk classic. Ed Banger had been in the notorious but short lived Nosebleeds and I think he made this single right after they broke up." - KV
KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
"Sweet Pea" by Soul Hooligan, from the late '90s compilation "Blow Up A-Go-Go!"... "How could I not like a setup named "Soul Hooligan"? I bought "Blow Up A Go Go" for the last New Year's Eve of the century and this is one of many "floor shakers" on that compilation. Soul Hooligan got signed to Madonna's label and, in an attempt to hit the big time, lost their way, I CANNOT recommend their only full length release, but I'm still looking for the 12" of "Sweet Pea"." - KV
