KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we are in the Easy Eye Studio, Nashville, Tennessee in the spring of 2011 for The Black Keys' "Run Right Back", from their "El Camino" LP (co-produced by Danger Mouse) on Nonesuch Records... "Although I was aware of then Akron-based The Black Keys when they signed to the Fat Possum Records label, I didn't really start listening to them until my #2 son Charlie brought their "Brothers" album home, several years later. That and the follow up, "El Camino", remain my two favourites and their collaborations with producer/musician Danger Mouse (Bryan Joseph Burton), for me, brought out their best. It Rocked at a time when little else did !" - KV

KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we are in the London of 1988 for Soul II Soul's "Keep On Movin", first released on the "Club Classics Vol.One" LP (U.S.title "Keep On Movin") in 1989... "Produced by Nellee Hooper and Jazzie B and featuring Caron Wheeler on vocals, "Keep On Movin'" fired this London-based musical collective, with deep roots in the London Club and Sound System scene, into the international spotlight. It was one of my sisters that I first heard playing it on a store bought cassette on a visit from NYC, and I have fond memories of dancing to it at my wedding." - KV
KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we are in one of the temples of American music, the Sun Recording Studio, Memphis, Tennessee, at 706 Union Ave, for Roy Orbison's "A Cat Named Domino" from 1957... "Being a smart lad, the Texas born and raised Roy Orbison took his band to see Sam Phillips at Sun in Memphis, Tennessee and, after a hit with "Ooby Dooby", the Teen Kings split and Roy stayed. At Sun, Roy recorded mostly rockabilly and was told by house producer Jack Clement he would never make it as a ballad singer. One of the few times I have been truly speechless was when, in a generic Middle American hotel, out of nowhere, Roy Orbison got in the same elevator as me - just the two of us - him of course in shades, I could not muster a word - then the doors opened and he was gone ! Like a dream, only real - which is not a bad description of his music !" - KV
KOSMO's VINYL of the Week: This week we are in some invisible triangle that includes Kingston, Jamaica, Wales and some other unknown (probably British) location for the Dubwood Allstars' "Under Dubwood", released on the Rivertones label in 2012... "I don't know much about this one, which would fit my description of a Mash Up. It's the actor Richard Burton reciting Dylan Thomas' "Under Milk Wood" over King Tubby's "Highjack The Barber" version of the "Ali Baba" rhythm. It was brought to my attention earlier this year by my pal Sukhdev Sandhu, who knows bugger all about it too. Having said that, I think it's really great and whoever the culprit is for coming up with this deserves much praise indeed. Anyone know anything ?" - KV
