KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week it's back to JA and 1983 for Gregory Issacs' "Out Deh" from the album of the same name... "In the early 1980s, Gregory Isaacs (AKA The Cool Ruler) was held in the same regard as Al Green must have been held in Black America ten years before. He was the supreme "lovers" Jamaican singer, but I've not chosen a "Lovers Rock". Here is one of my favourite prison songs from the album, on the cover of which Gregory can be seen in all his rude boy glory. Having once had a dispute with him over payment, I can assure you, what you see is what you get." - KV

KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week it's back to 1961 for Fats Domino and "Ain't Gonna Do It"... "One of the giants of New Orleans music, Antoine "Fats" Domino had hits by the bucket load. He hardly seems to get a mention these days, but his influence remains monumental and Jamaican music might not have been the same without him. On this one, Fats swears off the wild side of life and declares he "Ain't roamin' no more with Mo and Joe" - that's Vinyl and Strummer to you! If you ain't got no Fats Domino, better get some." - KV
KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
"Rose Rouge" by St Germain from the 2000 release "Tourist"... "I was in a record store in Bushwick, Brooklyn and they were playing a 12" of this track. When I tried to buy it they told me it was not for sale, just as well as when I got home and checked, I already owned a copy! The terms Acid Jazz or Jazz House are sometimes used to describe this stuff, whatever you call it - it's a great example of sampling old Jazz and Gospel records to create something new." - KV
KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week's pick is "Apartment #9" by Tammy Wynette, from her 1967 debut LP "Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad"... "I never really discovered Tammy Wynette until after I had started buying George Jones records in the late 1970s. Her "Stand By Your Man" had been a number one in the UK in 1975 and was quickly followed into the charts by "D.I.V.O.R.C.E", but still I paid her no mind. Still, better late than never. There's also a great Keith Richards bootleg version of "Apartment #9" which, by the way, was co-written by the forever badass Johnny Paycheck." - KV
