KOSMO's VINYL of the Week: This week we're off to the dance floors of the London club scene in 1974 for Act One's "Tom the Peeper" on the Spring label... "I always used to say there's no such thing as loyalty on the dance floor. The deejay spins the tune and the dancers either take off, or they don't. I never heard anything else from Act One other than this, released in the US in 1973 and a clubland hit a year later in the UK. I guess the follow up just didn't have the juice ?" - KV

KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we're in the England of 1981, for The Fun Boy Three's self-penned debut single, "The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum"... "The Fun Boy Three were formed when Terry, Neville and Lynval left The Specials. I have no idea why they left, but their output as Fun Boy 3, which only lasted 2 years, would indicate that they were keen to make records outside the self-imposed restrictions of The Specials. They also introduced the world to Bananarama !" - KV
KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we're off to the Highlands of Scotland, via a recording studio - probably in London, for Marianne Faithfull's version of "Wild Mountain Thyme", from her 1965 LP "Go Away From My World"... "In the '80s and '90s, used records were both plentiful and cheap here in NYC and one Sunday at the 77th Street Flea Market, I picked up a mono copy of this LP for $1. Who could refuse? It was the first 1960s Marianne Faithfull record I had ever owned and "Wild Mountain Thyme" (a traditional folk ballad of disputed origin) soon became my favourite track. Produced by Mike Leander, who would later find success when he created Gary Glitter's sound." - KV
KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we're in June 1976 Brisbane, Australia for The Saints' "I'm Stranded", released as a single on their own Fatal Records label.... "When thinking of Punk Rock and 1976, Australia does not necessarily come to mind, but The Saints in Brisbane released a punk record five months before The Damned's first British punk single on Stiff Records. When punk kicked off there weren't that many records to buy and "I'm Stranded" was a must have and a big seller on my stall at the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays." - KV
KOSMO's VINYL of the Week:
This week we're down in Mississippi for R L Burnside's "It's Bad You Know", from the album "Come On In" on Fat Possum Records... "In 1998, R.L. Burnside was a 71-year-old journeyman blues musician who had somewhat broken out of obscurity due to the interest of Jon Spencer. He agreed to be recorded and remixed by Tom Rothrock, who had previously worked with Beck, and this is the fruit of that endeavour. Just like Muddy Waters in 1954 and Jimi Hendrix in 1966, this record brought blues music into the here and now. I often wonder if this track had an influence on Moby, whose worldwide smash album "Play" came a year later ?" - KV
