MASAKO KELLY
Masako was born in Kawasaki, Japan, southwest of Tokyo; the second daughter of Sadao and Itsu Watanabe.
Art has always been part of her life where both her sister, Motoko, and her father are also artists. Her sister, who resides in Lausanne, Switzerland is a well known artist who has exhibited her works in Europe and Asia.
Masako studied at the Shirogane Ceramic Art School in Tokyo before moving to the United States in 1991 with her family. She also studied under Toshi Takeuchi, who now resides and works in Geneva, Switzerland.
After raising five sons, she focused on renewing her love of pottery and painting. She has continued her training and creativity at Chastain Art Center in Atlanta, Georgia for the past six years. Her pottery style is considered classical while delivering an abundance of warmth.
