MARC PELLETIER

Marc Pelletier was a geometric artist, a visionary behind the amazing Zometool system and a designer and builder of 120-cell models. One of these models was gifted to John Conway at Princeton University and another to the Fields Institute, on the occasion of Coxeter’s 95th birthday. Before he sadly passed away in 2017, Marc was working on Islamic tiling patterns, drawing on the work of Jay Bonner, an expert on the geometric art of the Middle East. He created an elegant and general system to generate such tilings with fine control over the symmetry and structures that come out.
We are honored to pay tribute to Marc and introduce his work to Decatur at our M.C. Escher + exhibition of original prints and contemporary math art, opening Friday the 13th of April, 2018, during the 13th Biennial Gathering 4 Gardner Celebration.
